The project “Next Generation Global PhDs – Innovations” is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the STER Programme – Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools (BPI/STE/2024/1/00016).

Funds awarded by NAWA: 1,447,025.50 PLN

Implementation period: 1 January 2025–31 December 2027

Project Objectives and Key Activities

The NextGenPhDs – Innovations project is part of Anthropos’s internationalisation strategy Anthropos Goes Global. The aim of the project is to enhance the quality of doctoral education in the humanities and social sciences, strengthen the competitiveness of training offered by the Polish Academy of Sciences, and support our doctoral candidates in developing their careers along both academic and expert pathways.

NextGenPhDs – Innovations is a continuation of the NAWA STER project Next Generation Global PhDs (BPI/STE/2021/1/00010).

The project consists of the following activities:

1/ Awarding NAWA STER NextGenPhDs Scholarships to outstanding doctoral candidates from Poland and abroad who carry out their doctoral projects in international collaboration.

2/ Participation of doctoral candidates in international NAWA STER NextGenPhDs Fellowships (including archival queries, fieldwork, and laboratory research) to acquire knowledge and skills related to conducting research in foreign institutions, as well as to strengthen their communication and intercultural competences.

3/ A programme of NextGenPhDs – Innovations Academic Skills and Soft Skills aimed at enhancing the competences of doctoral candidates and academic staff.

4/ A programme of sessions, seminars, and lectures by leading scholars from top institutions worldwide – NextGenPhDs Labs – Innovations, addressing key global issues.

5/ Two NextGenPhDs – Innovations summer schools, “Communication and Professional Development,” designed to strengthen doctoral candidates’ competences and organised in international cooperation.

6/ Attracting international doctoral candidates and increasing Anthropos’s competitiveness on the global education market (including promotion, preparation of multilingual informational materials, new digital tools, etc.).
