The Anthropos Doctoral School of the Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences invite applications for a PhD position under the National Science Centre (NCN) OPUS-19 grant “The topos of «the immured woman» in the cultures of Southeast Europe and Hungary” (no. 2020/37/B/HS2/00152, project manager: Prof. Grażyna Szwat-Gyłybow)

Scope of work:
- analysis of the state of research on Slovenian variants of the “immured woman” topos;
- developing a subject bibliography of written texts and a register of artifacts (films, paintings, architectural designs, graffiti, etc.), thematically related to the immured woman topos in the culture of modern and post-modern Slovenia (library and archival queries, field research);
- elaboration of collected material from a philological, anthropological and cultural studies perspective. Formulating research hypotheses (preparation of papers) and their verification during scientific conferences and team meetings;
- preparation of a chapter of a monograph and two scientific articles;
- research for a doctoral dissertation to be completed in four years;
- cooperation in preparation of other materials, publications and forms of disseminating results of the project
Requirements:
- knowledge of scientific workshop in the field of cultural and religious studies and philological sciences;
- knowledge of Slovenian language and culture; additional qualifications: knowledge of other South Slavonic languages;
- knowledge of English, or other congress languages;
- strong motivation for scientific work and preparation of a doctoral dissertation;
- willingness to get involved in the team’s work.
Employment conditions under the grant:
Scheduled start of employment: February 1 2021
Form of employment: scholarship
The scholarship is awarded in accordance with the rules for granting scholarships in the regulations of research projects financed by the National Science Centre (NCN), introduced by the Resolution of the NCN Council no. 25/2019 of 14th March 2019.
Time of receiving the scholarship: 48 months
The amount of the scholarship: in the years 2021-2022 (before the assessment) PLN 3,500/month; in the years 2023-2024 (after the assessment) PLN 5,000/month. These amounts will be reduced by the relevant contributions.

1) an application for admission to the School with an indication of the project title, addressed to the headmaster of the School;
4) personal questionnaire;
5) contact details of a researcher who could provide his/her own opinion about the candidate;
6) a copy of the diploma of completing second-cycle studies or uniform master’s studies, or a certificate from the place of education confirming obtaining a master’s degree (in the case of foreigners – an equivalent document), or a certificate of implementing the “Diamond Grant”;
7) a copy of the certificate confirming the knowledge of a foreign language at least at B2 level (or equivalent); in the absence of a certificate, a part of the interview may be conducted in a congress language chosen by the candidate;
8) a statement of consent to the processing of personal data.
- in separate files:
1) a photograph of the candidate’s face enabling his/her identification;
2) a copy of the master’s thesis or its equivalent (in the form of an electronic file, preferably in PDF format or on a data carrier);
3) for foreigners: certification of a graduation diploma or an equivalent document with an apostille clause, or authentication of these documents through the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
