Mid-term evaluation

The mid-term evaluation of each doctoral student is conducted by a committee appointed for this purpose, consisting of three persons. According to the provisions of the Law of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science, at least one of them must have a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) or a professorship in the discipline in which the doctoral student is preparing their dissertation and not be affiliated with the Institute where the doctoral student is carrying out their project. Two persons are appointed to the committee by the management of the host Institute. The third person is appointed by the School Council.

– Implementation of the individual research plan (IRP) is evaluated,

– Mid-term evaluations of individual doctoral students will be conducted between October 5 and October 23, 2026,

– evaluation materials must be received by committee members 30 days prior to the first committee meeting (the committee may meet more than once).

The deadline for sending the documentation approved by the supervisors to the coordinators is September 1, 2026. It is the responsibility of the doctoral student to send this documentation to the coordinators by the deadline. The coordinator sends the doctoral student’s documentation to the members of the evaluation committee.

Mid-term evaluation materials include the following:

  1. Sample sections of the doctoral dissertation prepared by the doctoral students and approved by supervisors, created in accordance with the schedule contained in the IRP. Such sample sections include mainly the table of contents of the dissertation, its chapters or texts (articles or conference papers) which will become the basis for the chapters in the future. These may also be results from the research having a different form than a chapter, article or paper, provided that it is accepted by the appropriate SD coordinator.

    Attention!
Every file (attachment to the report) containing, for example, a draft version of a chapter of the dissertation in preparation should be properly labeled according to the following scheme: surname_first name_type of text [e.g. chapter]. On the first page of the PDF file, please include your first name and surname, as well as specify the type of text (e.g. chapter of the doctoral dissertation titled XXX, conference paper for XXX) and its status if it is not published (in preparation / submitted for review / accepted for publication). If the text has been submitted, please indicate the journal to which it was submitted and attach confirmation from the editorial office that the text has been submitted for review or accepted for publication.

  2. Report on the implementation of the IRP (according to the attached model)

  • Doctoral students will be invited to speak with the committee
  • The result of the evaluation can only be positive or negative. A negative result will result in obligatory expulsion of the doctoral student. The evaluation results are public.
