International Fellowships in the NextGenPhDs – Innovations Project, funded by NAWA under the STER – Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools programme

We are pleased to announce a call for applications for four international research fellowships within the framework of the NextGenPhDs – Innovations project.
Project number: BPI/STE/2024/1/00016
Eligibility: Doctoral candidates enrolled in the Anthropos IPAN Doctoral School who have received approval of their individual research plan.
Number of fellowships available: 4, including:
- 3 for doctoral students from Poland,
- 1 for an international doctoral student*.
Purpose of the fellowship:
- collecting research materials for the doctoral dissertation, including fieldwork, archival or library research,
- participation in seminars or consultations with researchers at the host institution,
- additionally: short educational formats aimed at enhancing the participant’s academic or professional competencies,
- working on the doctoral dissertation in a focused environment conducive to intensive writing (writing retreat).
Funding provided by the project:
- living expenses – from PLN 4,000 to 12,000 per month,
- travel costs – from PLN 2,000 to 6,500,
depending on the host country, in line with the NAWA Beneficiary’s Handbook (Programmes for Institutions).
Duration of the fellowship: 1–3 months
Fellowship period: between 1 August and 31 December 2026
Required documents:
- application for international fellowship funding (template provided),
- academic CV,
- confirmation from the host institution agreeing to receive the doctoral candidate (scan),
- recommendation from the supervisor(s).

The call will be concluded by 20 July 2026.
The conditions for awarding fellowships and the candidate evaluation criteria are outlined in the attached regulations.
* “An international doctoral student shall be understood as:
1) a foreign national who has completed a first-cycle, second-cycle, or long-cycle Master’s degree program at a foreign higher education institution; or
2) a foreign national who has completed a second-cycle degree program at a Polish higher education institution; or
3) a Polish national who has completed a second-cycle degree program at a foreign higher education institution and has successfully passed the recruitment process organized by the Beneficiary.
